Why smart explanations fail
The expert's blind spot
Technical experts rarely fail because they know too little. They fail because they cannot remember what it was like not to know.
This module treats communication as a design problem: who is listening, what do they need to do with the information, and what is the single idea that must survive the conversation.

Lesson 1
Lesson 1 — Know your audience
Every audience arrives with three things: what they already know, what they care about, and what they must decide. Communication succeeds when the explanation is organized around the third one.

Lesson 2 — Simplify without losing accuracy
Three moves that preserve accuracy
Replace the term, keep the boundary
Swap jargon for a plain phrase, but keep the qualifier that makes the claim true. "Likely" is plain language; deleting it is not simplification, it is overstatement.
Use a concrete referent
Numbers become meaningful next to something the audience can picture. Anchor scale, don't just report it.
Say the uncertainty out loud
Audiences trust people who name the limits of their claim. Hidden uncertainty is what breaks trust later.

Situation
The world as the audience already understands it. One sentence, no new terms.
Complication
What changed, broke, or surprised you. This is the hook, and it must matter to them.
Finding
The single idea you want remembered, stated in plain language with its boundary intact.

What the audience should now think, decide, or do. Never leave this implied.
