My job is to enter their world, learn what they know, understand the people they need to reach, and turn that expertise into an experience others can learn from.
Curiosity is probably my greatest professional strength. I genuinely enjoy stepping into a subject I don't know yet — a research program on Lake Superior, a conservation landscape, an adaptive-recreation program, a college course — and asking questions until I understand what matters and why it matters to the people who will learn it.
I've spent nearly three decades helping people learn: first as a science educator, then through instructional design, educational technology, program development, and real-world learning. Along the way I've learned that the best learning rarely looks like a lecture. It looks like people doing something real, with someone helping them make sense of it.
I live and work in Marquette, Michigan, on the shore of Lake Superior. You'll usually find me outside when I'm not designing — which probably explains a lot about my work.
